Films like “Sleeping with the enemy” lead us to reflect on the peculiar nature of certain links and give us inspiration to try to understand how some people are, more often women, to accept some very negative characteristics and behaviors of their partners.
Despite the initial surprise in front of the couples formed apparently by a butcher and a helpless victim is always advisable to consider the fact that the perpetrator is not without its EIST victim and, therefore, that the victim has a “psychological advantage” proposing in this role.
So we can not dismiss the argument by blaming one or the other partners, calling it “bad” or “mental ill” or “immature” but the couple becomes necessary, rather, to investigate the nature of the relationship between two because the choice of partners is a much less random than you think.
These pairs are extremely dysfunctional and conflict-not so much due to the immaturity of the individual components as well as for the prevalence of subtle and unconscious present some games and put in place in the relationship by both partners unknowingly.
It ‘just the nature of “pathology” of this kind of bond that allows the partners to separate or to achieve a healthier balance of torque.
In my clinical practice I have seen several pairs of this type and I always found a hidden complicity between the two partners, which is defined in psychoanalysis “collusion”.
In the couple to “symbiotic collusion”, usually characterized by the presence of a partner of the sadistic and masochistic, the identity of torque is lost in favor of the stronger of the two which tends to swallow up the weaker. There is no room in this type of relationship, respect for others as distinct, or the acceptance of diversity in the other. But the victim’s partners almost always prefers to delegate the responsibility of another relationship.
In the couple to “Oral collusion” but one partner strives continuously to the other, take care of them like a child.
The partner-mother is usually a person tending to the depression that “care” through the other in his life because he has learned not only to give and receive. The partner-son, in fact, does nothing to grow …
Other times, as in pairs to “anal-sadistic collusion”, love is understood as total possession of the other: the partner considered as a domain to check. In this type of relationship is completely lacking independence and confidence. Generally, the partner has a tendency to obsessive parent who exercises full and undisturbed on the other.
Finally the couple’s love can be experienced as antagonistic self-assertion to another (the phallic-oedipal collusion). The partners, therefore, is an enemy to fight or overcome. These are reports based on the extremely competitive where there is opportunity to experience solidarity, equality and sharing.
In all these cases is not the evolution of loving feelings towards a mature stage made of reciprocity: both partners continue to live the relationship with two driven by the irrepressible need to pull out some negative characteristics that they themselves would possess but do not accept and so the project partners so that they can cope better.
It ‘obvious that, in all cases, the marriage crisis is guaranteed because the couple’s relationship is not a static phenomenon but a dynamic process in which both grow to the extent they are able to realize themselves as individuals within the couple, and not to the extent that they sacrifice their thinking needs to keep intact the couple.
